PAERIP Project

The PAERIP project was represented at the "4th Euro-Africa Cooperation Forum on ICT Research", held in Cape Town, South Africa, on Nov. 14-15, 2011. Held under the aegis of the EC and the AUC in the framework of the Africa-EU Strategic Partnership, this major event was the 4th of a series of very successful conferences organised by the EuroAfrica-ICT EU-funded project. With a specific emphasis on networking-opportunities, knowledge-sharing and consensus-building, the EuroAfrica-ICT Cooperation Fora have traditionally provided an indisputable focal point for all stakeholders in the public and private sectors involved in collaborative ICT research and in ICT for development. This year's edition was attended by over 230 attendees coming from 32 different countries over Europe and Africa. This two-days conference included plenary sessions with world-class experts, smaller (remove) presentation and thematic sessions, as well as various informal networking opportunities where delegates could share their experiences, ideas, new information and perspectives. The PAERIP Coordinator was invited to introduce the project during a session entitled "Research and Education Networking": Takalani Nemaungani (Director Global Projects, DST, South Africa) presented the project objectives, activities, expected outputs and early findings, pointing out how this is the first time that a FP7 project in this field is coordinated from outside Europe. This event provided a great opportunity to present the PAERIP project to a wide audience composed of stakeholders in the ICT and Research Infrastructure domains.
